Project
Pibxis, a portuguese rappe, had the goal of creating an animation music video for his single "Pibxis Lion".
His main idea was to have a character that rode a motorcycle wearing a lion main helmet but underneath he was a sheep, this was the premisse he gave me and the rest was up to me to develop. The lyrics spoke about artistic crimes which I interpreted as graffiti and that would be the conductive line through the narrative.
Approach
With his idea I started to imagine how to make the narrative fit the lyrics and reflect the message of the music. I knew right away that I wanted to merge analog with digital media. I also wanted to create some dramatic moments and connect the chorus with an unexpected comical relief.
Challenges
I had to create each of the characters in felt, design their clothes, create their shoes and give them a personality according to each musicians that they were representing. Then the storyline was created, followed by a storyboard, animatics to then finally move to the 3D animation. All this process was followed and approved by the client.
Results
After creating the character in felt, I 3D scanned them in order to be able to display them in the digital world I created using Blender. I was very happy with the results according that this was my first Blender project and I was solo in charge of every step of developing a music video.
